French Guiana’s Advantages

Many Strong Points for French Guiana

A vast region (1/5th of France), a large portion of which has been preserved.

A French overseas département (DOM).
- security and safety (political and health)
- French is the official language
- the euro is the currency.

A European gateway in southern America, with the possibility of combined stays (Brazil and the Caribbean).

A wide range of different aid.

  • State/regional planning agreement (Contrat de Plan Etat/Région) and DOCUP 2000-2006 (Objective 1) with
  • Subsidies from the region, the French government, and Europe
  • Direct aid from the Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales (CNES), the French national space agency, for tourism development
  • Free-trade zones and various finance laws: Perben, Tax Optimization, Orientation for Overseas, and others

Certain tourism projects may receive subsidies of up to 75% of the investment.

Good air links.

  • From Paris-Orly (Air France’s daily direct flight and Air Caraïbes via the Antilles)
  • From the French Antilles (Air France and Air Caraïbes with at least one daily flight)
  • From Brazil (Belem/Macapa/Fortaleza) with TAF, Air Caraïbes, and by road.
